Facial surgery is a really amazing aspect of plastic surgery. You take people who are no longer happy with the way they look because of aging, and you give them a more youthful, rested appearance. The most widely known surgery in that area is a facelift. Now, there’s a lot of stuff out there. There’s a mini-facelift, there’s a lifestyle lift, there’s a quick facelift, there’s lunchtime facelifts, there are a lot of variations on that theme, but really what’s important is that you’re visiting with a doctor that knows how to do all of those techniques.
If your physician or surgeon only has one way of doing things and that’s all they know, then maybe you’re not the right candidate for that. So the question is: will you really get the right advice? Will you really then be given an opportunity to hear all of your options? Possibly, I’m not sure, but I do all of those surgeries – a mini-facelift, a full facelift – and what I help patients do is decide which procedure is going to serve them the best. It might be that we could do something that’s a little less invasive and I’m all for that, but sometimes people just need a good old- fashioned facelift, and that’s what we offer to them.
And I try to tell them the reasons why, show them pictures, put their mind at ease about some of the fears that they have, some of stigma of a facelift. We’ve all seen the movie stars and how they’re overdone, and that scares people and I get that, but that’s not what we’re about here. We’re about making people look more rested, youthful, natural, and not have any type of fake, surprised look that they’re going to be embarrassed in front of their friends.
