What Is Rhinoplasty?
Aesthetic concerns with the nose are most noticeable because the feature is in the center of your face. Any issues can affect the balance and harmony of your facial structure. Dr. MaDan offers rhinoplasty in Nashville for:
- Bumps
- Crooked noses
- Upturned or downturned tips
- Noses that are too wide or too narrow
- Nostrils that are too small or large
Rhinoplasty is performed using a closed or open technique. Problems arising from damage or abnormalities with the cartilage in the upper nose require open rhinoplasty to access the tissues. Cosmetic concerns with the tip, nostrils and width of the nose may be performed with the more limited closed technique that requires an incision in the tissue between the nostrils.

What Are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty?
- Repairs damage and abnormalities
- May improve breathing and sleeping as a secondary benefit
- Improves facial balance
- Helps to bring out the eyes, cheeks and mouth
What Is the Recovery Time for Rhinoplasty?
Your nose is covered with a rigid splint that is held in place with surgical tape. The splint is removed approximately seven days after the procedure. Expect to have bruising around the eyes (i.e., black eyes), as well as swelling. Part of your aftercare is avoiding anything that may damage the tissues or loosen the sutures. You will not be able to breathe through your nose or blow your nose. This can be difficult as bleeding often occurs. You will only be able to dab your nose with a tissue. The swelling takes about six months to subside.
