Younger, brighter-looking skin can be achieved in our office without surgery, as our skilled aestheticians perform chemical peels on all skin types. Plastic Surgery Affiliates offers chemical peels to patients in Nashville, Brentwood, Hendersonville and the surrounding areas in Tennessee.
If you have noticed that your skin has lost some of its glow over time from aging, genetics, stress, or sun exposure then you may consider a chemical peel. Chemical peels are a way to rejuvenate the skin by using exfoliants to scrub away the dead cells that are making your skin look dull and tired. Dr. Hueneke’s Nashville office has a wide variety of chemical peels, and at your consultation, he will gladly work with you to choose the chemical peel to give you the results you desire. Take a moment to review the various peels offered to have a better understanding of which one would best give you the young, lustrous skin you long for.
Glycolic peels help you to resurface your skin by removing the outer, damaged layers and allowing smooth, fresh skin to flourish. There are different levels of glycolic peels that are dependent on how deeply your skin needs to be cleansed. As the concentration of the glycol increases, the depth that the peel penetrates the skin increases, as well. Dr. Hueneke offers the following concentrations of glycolic peels, and at your consultation, he will be able to best assess which peel will achieve the results you would like.
- 30 – 40% Glycolic
- 50% Glycolic
- 60% Glycolic
- 70% Glycolic
Obagi® Blue Peel®
The Obagi® Blue Peel® is an in-office procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using tricholoracetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base, the Blue Peel® allows us to monitor the appropriate depth into the dermis to effectively remove the layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin’s own clarity and tightness to resurface. When your skin has completely finished peeling, you will immediately notice the dramatic results of your newly improved complexion. Your skin’s appearance will continue to improve for the next 4 to 6 weeks, becoming firmer, clearer smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.
TCA peels, trichloroacetic acid peels, are stronger chemical peels that rejuvenate and repair your skin. We can offer different strengths such as TCA 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. They improve skin discoloration, severe sun damage, reduce fine lines, and even out skin texture. They also cause your skin to physically peel pretty heavily, so they will require around a week of downtime
This is a mild chemical peel that is able to remove wrinkles, sun damage, and acne on most parts of the body. The Jessner Peel requires a little more time to heal; however, it works well on all skin types and has an amazing effect on the removal of skin irregularities. Dr. Hueneke’s patients love that the side effects are minimal and the results are long lasting and incredible.
What to Expect After a Chemical Peel
Your skin may be slightly red or swollen just after a chemical peel. This is normal, and should subside within three to four days. You might also be more sensitive to sunlight for a week or so afterwards, so you should wear sunscreen whenever you are outdoors and avoid using a tanning bed until after your face has completely healed.
