Eyelid Surgery

It is often said that the eyes are the window into a person's soul.  For many people, having youthful eyes is synonymous with beauty.  Unfortunately, as people get older and their skin loses its elasticity, the skin around the eyes can become looser, darker, and may appear sallow.  This can result in a tired and older looking appearance.

What is Eyelid Surgery?

What to Expect:

During eyelid surgery, excess skin and fat from the eyelids is removed and then any loose or remaining skin is tightened.  While all eyelid surgeries involve making incisions along the natural contour of the eyes, sometimes laser technology may be sued to smooth out the lower eyelid area.  Botox injections may also be administered to fill in and firm up fine lines and wrinkles.

The surgery usually takes between one to three hours to complete, although if other cosmetic procedures are being performed, such as a face lift, the surgery could take longer.

Pre-Procedure:
During your consultation, the procedure will be discussed and your specific needs will be addressed. The surgery is done on an outpatient basis and is not very painful.

Post-Procedure:
Although the swelling and bruising can be significant, this resolves quickly over 5-7 days. The stitches are removed in the first week and makeup is then permitted.  It is important to get plenty of rest and plan on limited movement.
