Procedure Description:
Restoring cosmesis following a mastectomy.  Breast reconstruction can also be performed on asymmetrical breasts, or on women who are unhappy with a breast augmentation performed by another plastic surgeon.

What To Expect:
Breast cancer and mastectomy can be devastating to a woman. Reconstructive procedures have improved tremendously over the last decade. Dr. Hueneke provides a variety of options for his patients including skin sparing mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with TRAM flap.

Pre-procedure:
The consultation will take about one hour to fully discuss your options.  Since 1998, federal law has mandated that insurance companies pay for these services.

Post-procedure:
Breast reconstruction requires a huge commitment from both the surgeon and patient. At least 2-3 surgeries are necessary and the process will take up to 6 months. The surgery, however, is extremely rewarding and we have many women who are willing to share their experiences.
