Breast Lift
As women get older, mother nature takes its toll on the elasticity, firmness, and shape of the breasts causing them to sag. Sometimes women, especially those who develop at a young age, naturally have sagging breast. Other times, pregnancy, childbearing and breastfeeding cause breasts to droop. At Plastic Surgery Affiliates, Nashville plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Hueneke uses the latest surgical techniques to make sagging or drooping breasts appear perkier and more youthful.
If you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your breasts, you don't have to settle for a shape you find unflattering. Contact Plastic Surgery Affiliates to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hueneke about whether you would benefit from a breast lift. While Dr. Hueneke is committed to helping his patients obtain their desired looks, it's also important to him that each patient fully understands what the procedure entails. The following is a brief description about what is involved in a breast lift procedure:
Procedure Description:
Restoring the position of the breast. A breast lift can also reduce the size of large areolas.
What To Expect:
Breast lift or "mastopexy" will bring the breast back to a more youthful, normal position. Implants are sometimes used to increase the volume of the breast as well.
Preprocedure:
During the consultation, your breasts will be examined and the proper technique for you will be explained. Before and after photos are available.
Procedure:
Breast lift surgery reshapes and raises sagging breasts by removing excess skin to tighten the skin around the breasts. Patients with smaller breasts may require implants. The type of incision that is made to lift the breasts will depend on how much tightening is necessary. For minimal tightening the scar is limited to around the areola, whereas moderate tightening and reshaping may result in a vertical scar below the areola. The procedure usually takes about 1 to 3 hours.
Postprocedure:
Depending upon the method used, you will have some swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks. This will gradually subside. Most patients are able to get back to work in 5-7 days. After the swelling has gone down, you will enjoy a more youthful shape, firmness, and position.
