Tummy
Tuck
Every woman dreams of looking sexy in a bikini or having a tiny
waist. Unfortunately for some women, no matter how much they diet and exercise
they cannot seem to get rid of belly fat. Pregnancy can also cause a woman to store fat
in the stomach and around the waistline.
If you have struggled to reduce your waistline and eliminate fat
from your abdominal region to no avail, you may want to consider getting a
tummy tuck. After undergoing a tummy
tuck, you can enjoy the tight, more defined abs you’ve been yearning for.
What is a
Tummy Tuck?
During a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, excess skin and fat
deposits in the abdomen are removed, and the abdominal muscles are tightened. The result of a tummy tuck is a flatter
stomach and more defined abdominal muscles. Tummy tucks are also useful for
improving stomach contour after a pregnancy.
Who Should
Consider a Tummy Tuck?
If you are experiencing any of the following problems, a tummy
tuck may be beneficial to you:
·
You have difficulty getting rid of fat in the abdominal area, even
with diet and exercise
·
You have excess skin due to weight loss
·
The skin around your stomach has lost its elasticity due to
pregnancy
·
Your abdominal muscles are loose (diastases) due to pregnancy
·
You have an excessive amount of fat in your abdomen or around your
waistline
What To Expect:
Tummy tucks can provide some of the most dramatic results in our field. Excessive skin and fat, as well abdominal wall
weakness are all addressed with this procedure.
The procedure can take anywhere from 1 to 5 hours, depending on how much
fat/skin needs to be removed and the look you wish to achieve.
Pre-procedure:
During your
consultation you will learn about your options and receive an individualized
treatment plan. Before/after photos will be shown and the procedure will be
discussed in detail.
Post-procedure:
Most patients will spend one night in the hospital. Drain tubes are left in
place for a few days. You might experience some pain, swelling, and/or
discomfort. You will be up and around in 1 week. Usually 10-14 days are
required to be off work and recovery is near complete by one month.
Like any body contouring procedure, a tummy tuck should not be used
as a substitute for weight loss. A tummy tuck should only be sought if diet and
exercise were unsuccessful. Furthermore,
a tummy tuck will not keep the weight off permanently. If you continue to eat a
poor diet, do not exercise, or get pregnant again, you can gain weight and your
stomach could expand.
